Yakuzenergy

Hi, I’m Tak. I was born and raised in Japan and now live in the United States.

Food and health have been at the heart of my life since childhood. My mother, a passionate home cook, was always experimenting with new recipes and filling our table with everything from traditional Japanese dishes to International cuisine. My father, an enthusiastic gourmet with a deep interest in health, introduced me to a variety of international cuisines while also inspiring my early curiosity about health and well-being.

In my twenties, I moved to New York, where I immersed myself in the city’s diverse food cultures and continued exploring the culinary arts. Although my career in the fashion industry taught me a great deal about creativity, discipline, and aesthetics, one question remained with me: What kind of work do I truly want to devote my life to?

In 2016, a routine gynecological checkup revealed CIN 3 - severe precancerous changes in my cervix. I was fortunate to receive treatment before the condition progressed, and the abnormal cells were successfully removed. Still, the diagnosis was a profound wake-up call. Determined to understand what I could do to reduce my risk of cancer and protect my long-term health, I began researching online and visiting libraries, reading books and other resources on health and disease prevention. Through this journey, I came to understand the vital role that diet and lifestyle play in supporting long-term health and reducing the risk of disease.

Another turning point came in 2020, during the pandemic. As I began looking more deeply into ways of supporting health through food and daily living, not through medicine alone, I discovered the ancient wisdom behind Yakuzen.

Yakuzen is a Japanese approach to eating rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The principles that shaped it originated in ancient China and were introduced to Japan more than a thousand years ago, where they gradually developed in harmony with Japanese ingredients, culinary traditions, and ways of living.

At the heart of Yakuzen is the philosophy of ishoku dōgen - the understanding that food and medicine share the same origin. Guided by concepts such as Yin and Yang, the Five Elements, and the balance of Qi, blood, and body fluids, Yakuzen considers not only the nutritional content of food but also its natural properties and how they interact with each person’s constitution, condition, environment, and the seasons.

Inspired by a desire to share this timeless wisdom in a way that feels practical and relevant to modern life, I founded Yakuzenergy - a name that combines “Yakuzen” and “energy.” My hope is for Yakuzenergy to become a source of nourishment, knowledge, and renewed vitality through the wisdom of food.

To me, Yakuzen is more than a system of dietary therapy. It is a way of reconnecting with our bodies, realigning our daily lives, and living more harmoniously with nature through food.

As a certified Yakuzen Practitioner and Yakuzen dietary therapist, I share recipes, seasonal guidance, and everyday lifestyle insights designed to support balance and nourishment without compromising taste.

The path of Yakuzen is an ongoing journey of learning. Through Yakuzenergy, I hope to make its wisdom approachable and inspire people to incorporate it into their everyday lives, nurturing greater harmony in both body and mind.

Healing and prevention start on your plate.

Welcome to Yakuzenergy.
